- Ectropion
Ectropion is a condition in which your eyelid, usually the lower lid, turns out. This can leave the inner eyelid surface exposed and prone to irritation. In severe ectropion, the entire length of the eyelid is turned out. Patients report dry eyes, tearing and in long standing situations vision problems.
Ectropion repair is performed to:
- Fix an out-turning lower eyelid
- Prevent visual field disturbances
- Correct excessive tearing
- Treat dry eyes
Dr. Sheila Shifrin performs ectropion correction surgery to correct the symptoms of tearing and dry eyes and to prevent long term corneal corrosion and vision changes.. During your visit, she will diagnose the cause of the ectropion (tissue laxity, scarring, loss of lid height due to Graves disease) and discuss a personalized surgical plan for correction.
